Taichung Folklore Park Family Mini Sessions

The Folklore Park is a cultural center in Taichung with more traditional Fujian-style architecture and courtyard houses, as well as some exhibitions and shops to peruse. This makes it a decently popular photo shoot location for families here, especially foreigners looking for unique Taiwanese looking location shots. What makes it an especially great location choice for when you want to do a shorter session is that even though the architecture is the main attraction of the park, there's still several grassy areas so you can take your shots with traditional architecture in the background, then move over to the grass and fit in some generic green background shots and mix it up that way.

I was at the Folklore Park basically every weekend this January for family minis and senior photos and got to explore it more than I ever have. Since the park isn’t very big and lots of elderly people tend to chill there in the afternoon, I personally feel like some of them may have learned to recognize me as I ran in with a huge backpack after just getting off the bus with a few minutes to spare before each shoot? (I acknowledge this is probably wishful thinking because I think it's fun to pretend I'm important and memorable to observers when I do my photo shoots).

Anyway, in the future I’ll aim to do a blog post for each family or session that I do but since I’m a bit behind with blogging, I’ll be lumping several families together for this first one (especially since these were all shorter mini sessions at the same location).

Here’s a collection of some of my favorites of the family mini sessions I covered at the Folklore Park from the beginning of the year! Some memorable events that occurred across these sessions include:

• Having the coldest New Years temperatures in Taiwan in 15 years (see if you can guess which family did their photos on that day)

• Some baby ducks showed up at the fish pond all huddled together, but are unfortunately not pictured below

• One family brought their dog Leia along which was a ton of fun and she also had a blast running around the park
