One of the things that I really want to do better in 2021 is blogging, so here’s my first attempt at it. I mean at the very least I can now say that I blogged once in 2021 hah so there we go! Already an improvement!

Honestly I've had this post on my to do list since the end of December 2020...so yes it's taken me a while to write up. Getting past that hump of writing is clearly going to be a challenge moving forward, but one I welcome (I think). I haven't been doing too much writing in paragraphs recently (or honestly even full sentences, if I really think about it), so this will be good for helping me remember how to do that and not totally fall apart intellectually. This will also help me to remember more of my shoots, which is something I'm really looking forward to. I've already forgotten so much of what happened with my shoots last month, so I can't imagine how much more I'll forget in just a few more months (I worked in a memory lab in college so I know our memories are terrible. Also I noticed that I'm using a bunch of parentheses for no real reason so I'll try and cut that out). So yes, even if no one ever reads this and I'm just talking to myself about the funny dog I saw while taking photos in a park, totally worth it and will probably keep paying to keep this domain and website up forever just for the mems. Also since I haven't written this much in a while, I'll def still be floundering around trying to find my writing style. If you're still reading, thanks for bearing with me :)

ANYWAY (you should probably get used to reading this word a lot, especially as I navigate these first few blog posts and what kind of direction I want to take people in. Or future me), alum game was a total blast for me to not only shoot, but play in! It's fun every year but with the heck of a year 2020 was, being in a place where it was totally okay to get all tangled up and exchange sweat and elbows with other people held a lot more significance than usual. I played in the girls game first and then grabbed my camera and photographed the guys' game, dripping sweat and all. Seeing as I'm writing this at the end of April, I don't remember too much and a lot of the plays are blurry hah but here's a jumper I made. Final score was 57-50. The end of the game was actually a lot closer than it seemed because we only had 6 players (so 1 sub) and ran out of gas a bit in the second half after being up around 20 at halftime and they got within 3 with a minute or so left if I remember right before we locked it up.

Guys game had way more players (which is the norm) so they had groups of substitutions that they would sub in, basically grouping people by graduation year (most recent grads first, then grads a few years out, etc). They even had a group of "old guys" with guys who graduated decades ago. I can't find the final score anywhere but I think the alum ended up losing by around 10. I often lose track of the score when I'm shooting a game but this time was more because I kept running into teachers and friends as I was shooting the game and started chatting with them so between those interactions and also trying to get shots of the action, I didn't really have much capacity for actually tracking the score.

I had unintentionally taken a little break from taking photos for much of 2020 so getting to end the year by shooting a game again was so much fun to get back into the swing of things. Here are a few of the photos from the night. You can view the full album here if you're interested: https://aliciatsai.passgallery.com/-morrisonalumnigame2020. Fingers crossed that it doesn't take me another 4 months to publish my next blog post.
